I was already not in the best of places emotionally, but the added pressure turned me into an anxious wreck nearly every day. Due to the pressure of having to port, iron out, and thoroughly test over 30 stages in less than a year (a decent chunk of work had already been done going into 2016, but a lot of that old work needed fixing up too) and only being one person doing all of said work, took a huge toll on my emotional state. I didn’t want to let people down, and with the Sonic Hacking Contest being held in October/November (the general deadline I had wanted to set for the release) it seemed like the best idea was to buckle down and dedicate as much time as possible to getting work done.
#Sonic generations unleashed project update
After all, I’m doing 90% of the dev work on this update it probably wouldn’t exist without me. Since I didn’t want it to become my own personal Duke Nuken Forever, I resolved to put my personal projects on hold starting 2016 until Unleashed Project 2.0 was done. I’d been working on the project on-and-off for a long while, since 2014 even. It’s not even seriously delayed, all things considered. Before you go panicking (first of all, I’m flattered, but second of all) the release isn’t cancelled. What’s going on? Is it dead? Has it been delayed? A lot’s been going on in my personal life for a while and I want to shed some light on why no updates have been released in a long while. Whether or not it will happen remains to be seen. So, it’s been around four months since the last update on Unleashed Project’s channel. Former head DarioFF may return as the head of the project, expressing interest in reviving the project. Ultimately the project was ambitious, with over 30 levels planned for the Unleashed Project, with the ultimate goal to expand Sonic Generations with a DLC-esque experience and a way to re-introduce Sonic Unleashed levels.Īs for any hope of Unleashed Project being revived in the future, it may be a possibility. Though intended to replicate levels, some designs were changed as a form of compromise due to technical limitations.

The project itself was designed to replicate Sonic Unleashed levels, including bonus and DLC stages, using the PC version of Sonic Generations as a base.

I’m sincerely sorry to those who were looking forward to it, but I hope you’ll understand by this far into my post that it was extremely unhealthy for me. I know of no one I could pass the workload onto, nor do I plan to release my “completed” work as none of it is fully polished. For a long time I was really passionate about it, and I felt I had something special to share with people by working on it, but that passion is gone.

I can’t begin to express how sorry I am about this, but I’m cancelling Unleashed Project 2.0. According to her via a TwitLong post, it was due to a lack of passion on her end causing a lot of stress, and being unable to pass the workload onto someone else. The project’s former head, S0LV0, has announced that she is stepping down from her position and canning the project as a result. Bad news for people looking forward to the Sonic Generations Unleashed Project 2.0 mod, as it has been announced that the project has been cancelled.
